Madison Smartt Bell è un noto scrittore americano, nato a Nashville, Tennessee, nel 1957. E’ professore di inglese al Goucher College nel Maryland, dove insegna scrittura creativa. Bell ha conseguito un Bachelor of Arts alla Princeton University e un Master of Fine Arts alla Hollins University.
